As you all know, Thunderbird holds a special place in my heart.  I think my sister put it best as she once said, "you going to Thunderbird is the best thing that ever happened to me."  It has given me close friends (family) as well as adventures all over the world and of course Kenya has been no exception.

Last night I had dinner with Mario, who was at Thunderbird the same time as me.  It has been probably 4 years since we last saw each other when he was passing through New York, and it was great to catch up.  I heard all about his recent adventures from Haiti, Rwanda, Ghana and Kenya as we had a delicious Eritrean meal at Asmara. #VeryThunderbird

In addition to Mario, my Tbird friend Joe introduced me to Fred when I arrived in Nairobi.  Joe and Fred know each other from college as well as Thunderbird and turns out Fred runs the Kenya Thunderbird Alumni Chapter.

One of the many amazing things about Thunderbird is the "First Tuesday" tradition.  The first Tuesday in most cities around the world you can expect a gathering of Thunderbirds.  This has always been a fun thing for me to check out in my travels, so was looking forward to the Nairobi First Tuesday.  Some cities have to adapt "First Tuesdays" for various reasons -  Nairobi has to hold them on the weekend as traffic is too much to get around during the week.  So lucky for me, when Fred found out I was in Nairobi he moved forward the July "First Tuesday" to the weekend I would be in Nairobi (next weekend)!

And get this - when he sent out the email to the Nairobi chapter with the details, guess who was on the list - one of my clients from my assignment!  Lane  runs Catholic Relief Services in Kenya and has been hosting my team at his offices! #LoveThunderbirds

We'll see if my paths cross with any more tbirds during my time in Africa!
