Jambo! (That's about the extent of my Swahili thus far, but I have a few more days to work on it)
I am officially 5 days out until I head to Nairobi to begin my IBM Corporate Service Corps assignment. I was accepted into the program almost a year ago, began prepping for my assignment with my team 3 months ago, and on Friday I will meet my 11 teammates for the first time to start our projects!
While in Kenya, my primary focus will be on my project and making an impact to the community and the organizations we are working with. I am also fortunate enough to be able to take time and see some of the beauty that Kenya has to offer - Massai Mara, Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru for starters. Be prepared for lots of photos of elephants.
I am very excited to get to Kenya, and dig into the work, but a lot to do in the next 5 days to get ready - now that the blog is set up, I can cross one thing off the list!
Next up I will tell you a little bit more about the work my team will be doing to help tackle one of the biggest challenges in Africa - access to clean water.
I'm new to blogging, but I'll do my best to share my adventures, insights and memories throughout this once in a lifetime experience and hope you follow along.
